KOREA: LG Dacom, Powercomm spamming hotbeds

The LG Group, Korea's No. 4 conglomerate, has under its wing two of the country's three worst Internet service providers (ISPs) -- LG Dacom and LG Powercomm -- that play host to a plethora of spam "gangsters."

According to Spamhaus, the international anti-spam agency, 53 Korean ISPs host at least one Internet protocol (IP) address, which sends unwanted junk messages in bulk, as of Tuesday.

Most of them are found to contain benign spammers but 16 outfits host blacklisted professional spammers. The blacklisted operations have been terminated by at least three other ISPs for spam offenses.

Dacom, Korea's third-largest fixed-line operator, and Dreamline, a mid-tier broadband carrier, shared the top spot for blacklisted spammer list by hosting nine, apiece.

Powercomm, the nation's third-biggest high-speed Internet carrier, came in third with four hard-core spammers followed by Kr Line and Prism Communications with two, respectively.

Trojan Spam Storm Hits Inboxes: Emails Pose As Breaking News Stories.

The distribution has been so widespread that since midnight GMT the Trojan has accounted for over two thirds of all malware reports seen at Sophos's global network of monitoring stations, accounting for an infection rate of 1 in 200 of all emails being sent across the net. Subject lines used in the malicious emails include, but may not limited to, the following: 230 dead as storm batters Europe. British Muslims Genocide Naked teens attack home director. A killer at 11, he's free at 21 and kill again! U.S.

Mails received twice in Outlook Express

I have an e-mail account with VSNL. My problem is that mails received in webmail are received only once but they are received twice in Outlook Express.

This is happening with every mail I receive. I have tried to tackle the problem but have been unsuccessful. Please suggest a solution.

This could be happening either because the Outlook Express mailbox in your system is corrupted or some mails are corrupted in your mail box at your ISP's server end.

Please take the following steps to tackle this: Temporarily turn off (disable) all mail rules specific for inbox and check.

Temporarily disable POP3 mail virus checking, spam-filter software, email notifier, etc, and check.

Please free up all your inbox mails (both at webmail and Outlook Express end) and send a fresh test mail and check.
